Evaluation Questionnaire and Analysis for the 4Steps Project (2019-2023)

Upon the conclusion of the 4Steps project, we undertook an evaluation process using an online survey created with the 1KA web tool. This survey was meticulously translated into Vietnamese and Khmer languages to comprehensively assess the impact of the 4Steps project. All four of our Asian partner organizations were tasked with distributing the questionnaire to the various beneficiaries of the project over its entire duration, including students, midwifery teachers, clinical mentors, and other practicing midwives. The data collection spanned from June to September 2023, and three reminders were sent during this period.

Our comprehensive evaluation reveals that the 4Steps project has left a profoundly positive impact on all participants. It notably heightened their proficiency in information and communication technology (ICT), empowered them to pursue evidence-based practices, and instilled a critical mindset when evaluating various midwifery procedures. Furthermore, the project enhanced their understanding of research methodologies, and, most importantly, it significantly enriched their knowledge within the field of midwifery.

The 4Steps project has also spurred active engagement among participants. The partners have taken the initiative to develop teaching materials and textbooks, which has had a positive influence on their teaching methods. These educators have adopted more interactive pedagogical approaches, making students more accountable for their own learning and equipping them with the skills to independently seek new evidence. This shift in pedagogy fosters the development of future healthcare professionals who possess the ability to continuously grow, learn, and implement evolving best practices. We firmly believe that this will result in lasting, far-reaching effects of the 4Steps project in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Simulating midwifery care with new equipment!

One of the objectives of this project was to equip midwife educators with concrete teaching tools for midwife skills training.

Here are a few pictures from Cambodia (HSI of RCAF) of skills training with simulation equipment obtained within the project. New pedagogic ideas are rooted into practice!

Equipment news also from Nam Dinh (NDUN), Vietnam!
