Workshop on eco-emotions and climate anxiety for students and lecturers on 11.10.2024

A heuristic tool for managing climate emotions

We are living in the midst of an environmental crisis that causes suffering and makes our future uncertain. Inevitably, it will change how we live and what we need to learn and challenge the whole society to respond. It is also taking its toll on the mental health of young people in particular.

In this lecture and workshop, we explore thoughts and emotions evoked by the environmental crisis. What kinds of eco-emotions can we identify, how might they show up, and how can we live with them? How might they show up in sustainability studies and in student communities? How can we support each other and learn to process these emotions in ourselves?

The lecture and workshop is held by student mental health organisation Nyyti ry/ The Eco-Crisis, Our Future and Mental Health project .

The workshop is free and open for all interested without pre-registration. The event is held in English but it is also possible to work in Finnish in the workshop. The event is organised by the SUD degree programme and STUE profiling area.
