Touch and embodied interaction in close relationships

Touch, emotions, and embodied interaction play a significant role in close relationships. Loving touch and interaction can have a positive impact on people’s health and well-being. On the other hand, touch and interaction can also feel unpleasant. An integral part of interaction in close relationships is the constant negotiation of one’s own space and the boundaries of interaction.

This study examines interaction in families with young children, drawing on authentic video recordings of interactions in participants’ homes, interviews with participants, and participant observation.

The project explores how parents and children interact and touch one another in everyday situations, and how emotions are linked to daily embodied interaction.

We are looking for families to participate in the study! See the “Become a Participant” tab for more details.
