Sustainability - Meeting with Dignitaries in Dhaka

Sustaining the DigiCare project results beyond the project duration is a fundamental outcome and an important task to accomplish. In connection with the Dhaka transnational meeting we had an opportunity and honor to meet several Bangladeshi dignitaries in order to raise awareness of the DigiCare project and expected outcomes. The coordinator TAMK met with Additional Director General (Admin) and Acting Director General from Directorate of Medical Education, Register of the Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council and Director General of Nursing and Midwifery.

As a part of the DigiCare transnational meeting, the Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) project coordination team met with Prof. Dr. AKM Amirul Morshed, Additional Director General (Admin) and Acting Director General, Directorate of Medical Education, Mohakhali, Dhaka. Also, high officials from the the Directorate of Medical Education and representatives from Universal Medical College and Hospital (UMCH) and City Medical College and Hospital (CiMCH) were present.

We had an opportunity to introduce DigiCare project and its key activities, milestones and expected results to the Directorate of Medical Education representatives and emphasize the present and future need for healthcare professionals’ digital competency. The dignitaries of the Directorate of Medical Education expressed their positive feedback about the project. Prof. Dr. Morshed considered this project a milestone for the medical and nursing healthcare providers and potentially, in the new curriculum for MATS and Medical Technology course, the integration of the DigiCare model may be considered.     

Meeting with  Register, Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC), Bijoynagar, Dhaka. 

In addition the Directorate of Medical Education, we met with Mrs. Rashida Akter, Register, Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC) together with members from UMCH and high officials from the BNMC  to introduce the DigiCare project.

The honorable Register expressed her positive views about the project and told how this project will be a new way to educate both teachers and students as well as patients.  

In order to proceed with integration of the DigiCare model into the curricula in Bangladesh, a formal proposal is needed to be sent to the BNMC for evaluation. Based on their evaluation, the BNMC will analyze the proposal and send their final decision to the government. She expressed how Bangladeshi government is trying hard to increase the competency of nurses in the healthcare services.    

 

Meeting with Director General of Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) in Mohakhali, Dhaka

The DigiCare project coordinator was also honored to meet with Mrs. Siddika Akter, Additional Secretary, the Director General of Nursing and Midwifery together with Mrs. Priti Chakraborty, Chairman of Universal Medical College and Hospital and the high official of the DGNM.  We introduced our DigiCare project and its aims and activities.

After the presentation, the DGNM officers expressed their positive views about the project. All the participants in the meeting appreciated the project and hoped that after the DigiCare model preparation they will sit again and discuss it elaborately. If the DigiCare project outcomes are successful, they will suggest the ministry to include DigiCare Model in the national curriculum. 

The feedback from several Bangladeshi dignitaries was very encouraging and will stimulate our work even further.
