COVID-19 Pandemia has set challenges in the project work but also shown concretely the need of developing skills and creative mindset in using distance and digital tools in patient self-management support

During the spring 2020 many of the team members in partner schools faced new challenges in pedagogical work as well as larger workload due to changing pandemic situation and societal and institutional means to minimize the spread. Transnational meeting that was planned to be held in June in Joensuu, Finland was cancelled, but the consortium kept closely in touch through online meetings. The visualization of the DigiNurse model developed further as well as the building the e-book for publishing and disseminating the model and it’s guide.

Due to the pandemia, the partner High Education Istitutions moved into online education and school buildings were closed. Many practical training periods of students were cancelled by the hospitals, and at the same time many advanced students were recruited to workforce. This caused some difficulties to the piloting implementations. However, international piloting was held online in April-May with 24 students from the four countries.
