NDUN Piloting the DigiCare Model Cycle 1

The piloting activities of the DigiCare Model have started in Nam Dinh University of Nursing (NDUN). The project Management Board and 10 lecturers participated in the teacher training cycles of 1 & 2 in March 2021 which provided them knowledge and skills to enhance their competency and start training their nursing students.

DigiCare project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union, with its aim of enhancing digital care skills for nursing students and improving the quality of patient care at Higher Education Institutions in Asia. Within the framework of the project, Nam Dinh University of Nursing (NDUN) and partner schools completed the 1st draft of Digital Care Model for Asia and gradually tested the Digital Care Model. According to plan No. 600/KH-ĐDN dated March 26, 2021 on the implementation of the pilot training on the DigiCare Model (Cycle 1 & 2), the participants of the training session were members of NDUN Project Management Board and 10 lecturers.

In the training session, the 5A’s model and the Grow model which were the basis to develop skills and practice patient training for a group of 10 trainers were introduced.

After the training theory session, the ten lecturers developed scenarios, assigned roles, and practiced coaching patients with hypertension, diabetes, and chronic heart failure to change their behavior.

The teacher training helped to improve their knowledge and skills to train students in patient coaching skills through the Grow model and 5A’s model.

After the pilot cycle 1, all lecturers were excited because they had an opportunity to access the method of integrating the teaching of digital patient coaching skills within nursing education.
