Tampere University (TAU) is a multidisciplinary university possessing special expertise in, e.g., digital transformation of industry. Engineering Materials Science (EMS) forms a joint laboratory consisting of 11 research groups and the related infrastructure, in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. EMS covers material performance-oriented research groups of surface engineering and tribology and machine elements.

CASR and MME cover the whole chain of steel processing and have exceptional insight into challenges that steel producers and users face. CASR conducts basic research and provides innovations and educational support to the Finnish steel and engineering industry.
