As highlighted in this episode, the University of Copenhagen supports international spouses through a wide range of services. Each university organises dual career support in its own way, and in Denmark these services are particularly well-resourced, with a dedicated team of consultants and strong partnerships with local companies.
At Tampere University, our approach is somewhat different. Instead of a large dedicated team, we focus on community-driven initiatives. The Hidden Gems peer groups foster networking, professional growth and integration of spouses into Finnish society. Our team works to ensure that spouses are recognised, can build social networks, improve language skills and establish a sense of belonging in Finland while receiving support from peers.
EURAXESS – Researchers in Motion is a unique European-wide initiative, supported by the European Union and its member states, which provides information and services for professional researchers. The initiative nurtures the mobility and career development of researchers and promotes scientific cooperation in Europe and beyond.
In total, there are over 600 EURAXESS Centres in more than 40 countries. Tampere University is the current bridgehead organisation (BHO) for EURAXESS Finland and home to one of Finland’s 13 EURAXESS Centres.
Through the network, researchers can also explore research funding opportunities as well as find jobs or partners for their research projects. EURAXESS Jobs provides information on thousands of jobs in more than 40 countries.
