Starting in September 2020 the participants will begin their journey into the Finnish society. For a period of four months (September-December), we commit to provide services related to networking, mentoring and professional development and career planning. The programme and its workshops are designed to empower spouses in their integration into the Finnish society as well as give them the tools to become the actors of their own success.
The programme is open to international spouses whose partners work in one of the Tampere universities or private companies in Tampere region.

Future steps
We will first contact you with regard to your participation in the programme in July. If you are selected, an expectation management meeting will be held on 26 August and the official activities will start on 9 September (dates to be confirmed). The University follows all national guidelines and measures set by Finland’s government. We will keep the selected participants informed in case we need to change these dates or procedures due to COVID-19.

Hidden Gems is an initiative by the Tampere Universities community. Initially it supported the spouses of our international researchers. Recently the activities have been opened to spouses, whose partners work in the private sector, too. Over the years the Hidden Gems initiative has piloted a variety of activities, which aim to facilitate the employment and full integration of expatriate spouses into the Finnish society. In year 2020 a spouse programme and a mentoring programme are among the activities offered.
