Activities for newcomers at Tampere University

A person holding a globe in their hands.

Tampere University organises activities for international researchers and their spouses in support of integration into the university community and the Finnish society. We have a variety of activities which are produced in collaboration with local organisations and associations. We wish to support the newcomers and help them get a good start in Finland!

Network for Academics and Staff

This social and professional network brings together international minded researchers, grant researchers and staff at Tampere Universities. With us you can meet colleagues in a relaxed setting! We provide peer support for newcomers at our higher education institutions, help foster an intercultural mindset and provide opportunities to mingle and network with other international minded researchers. We organise two meetings per month, one network meeting on campus and one informal social get-together outside campus. One of our focus areas is learning Finnish: we will do fun activities and practise Finnish together.

Hidden Gems Peer Groups for International Spouses

The peer groups for spouses, who have followed their partners to Tampere, help navigate and plan your life and career in the new country. In the group you share experiences with people in the same life situation, improve language skills and learn about Tampere and its many opportunities. In many cases friendships are born! We organise peer groups in spring and autumn semesters.

Interested in joining us? A new group will start in spring 2024. There will be more information available soon!
