The GPT-Lab research group at Tampere University collaborates with companies and organizations to identify business development opportunities, evaluate the applicability of generative artificial intelligence, and carry out experiments and pilots designed to address practical business needs. Our goal is to help organizations identify how generative AI can be applied in practical, safe, and business-oriented ways.
Through the GENT project, we invite SMEs in the Satakunta region to explore collaboration opportunities in the field of generative artificial intelligence.
What can collaboration include?
Common forms of collaboration may include identifying business challenges, evaluating AI solutions, conducting experiments and pilots, developing Proof of Concept (PoC) and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) solutions, planning AI adoption initiatives, assessing responsible AI practices, and strengthening knowledge related to generative AI and its operating environment.

The research group has collaborated with companies and organizations on the development, evaluation, and adoption of generative artificial intelligence across a wide range of application areas.

- Experiments with Large Language Models (LLMs) in a variety of industrial and organizational use cases.
- Development and evaluation of agentic AI frameworks for advanced autonomous and semi-autonomous applications, including the automation of complex multi-step tasks.
- Fine-tuning of language models for industry-specific and company-specific requirements.
- Comparative analyses of language models to identify the AI solutions best suited to specific business needs and use cases.
- Benchmark-based evaluation of agentic frameworks using established assessment methods and performance metrics to identify the solutions best suited to an organization’s needs.
- Development of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications for practical business and organizational contexts, for example enabling AI-assisted access to an organization’s own knowledge and information resources.
- Continuous development of memory capabilities in agentic frameworks to enable AI solutions to make use of previous interactions and better adapt to user needs over time.
- Development of applications that leverage tacit knowledge, helping organizations identify, preserve, and utilize expertise that is often difficult to formalize or document.
- Research and development on how generative AI can be used to optimize business processes in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
