Background
Technology is transforming who we are and how we feel about ourselves. In the age of artificial intelligence, technologies play a central role in many life activities and they impact ways in which we see ourselves and others. The Self and Technology EU-6 project is grounded on social psychological theories of identity, self-determination and self-verification.
Goal
Self & Technology EU-6 project aims to analyze how emerging technologies affect the perception people have of themselves and their identities and how people in different countries differ from each other.
Impact
The findings advance our knowledge on how people perceive themselves and their identities in relation to technology use and delves deeper into country and cultural differences of this relationship. The research also provides new information about the use of novel technologies as an integral part of individuals’ life in contemporary societies.
The research contributes to theory by providing multidisciplinary findings to multiple research fields (e.g. social psychology, occupational psychology, behavioral science, information technology).
Partners and co-operators
The project is part of the Emerging Technologies Lab at Tampere University.
