In this sub-project we explore experiences of refugee children and youth who have arrived in Finland without parents or guardians. We are particularly interested in the youth’s experiences of family foster care. Main researchers for the sub-project are Iida Kauhanen, Venla Koivuluhta and Anni Rantaniemi. We are also recruiting people with current or previous experience of migrating to Finland as an unaccompanied minor and living with a foster family to work as co-researchers with us in the project.

How can you participate in the research?
- Interview: the researcher will conduct an interview with you / your family or / and
- Observation: the researcher will spend time with you / your family and get to know your everyday life
All the details related to participation, such as location, time, and length, will be agreed together so that they are convenient for you.
Participation is completely anonymous, meaning that neither you nor your family can be identified in the study. You will have the opportunity to talk to the researcher and ask questions before deciding whether you want to participate in the study. Participation in the study is voluntary.
There is no direct benefit to you from participating in the study. However, it offers you the opportunity to discuss your experiences of foster care in a confidential manner. There is no financial reward for participating in the study, but we will reimburse travel expenses to the interview and other possible expenses related to the interview.
