The role of safety observations in safety management – SafeObs research project
Safety observations have long been an important tool in safety work at workplaces. However, there are many things to consider in the practical implementation of safety observations and more research is also needed.
A two-year (1.2.2024 31.5.2026) research project is under way at the Centre for Safety Management and Engineering to study the role of safety observations in safety management. The research produces a model for the implementation of safety observations at the workplaces. The model considers key stages, problems, and benefits. In addition, the study examines the information obtained from safety observations and its utilization. Positive safety observations are one aspect of the study.
Funding for the project is provided by are the Finnish Work Environment Fund, the Tampere University and other participating organizations involved in the research.
