The civil engineering works have been identified as one of the most important sector with circular economy potential, also in the Tampere region. The construction sector (infrastructure, landscaping and building construction) uses large volumes of natural resources and produces, as well, large volumes of waste, and there are still many possibilities to improve the efficiency and sustainability in a profitable way.
RATKI - Circular Economy RDI Network in Civil Engineering
The main target of the RATKI project is to bring together the construction sector and related actors in Tampere region (Pirkanmaa) and to promote the reuse of industrial by-products, demolition materials and surplus soils, as well as to identify knowledge and attitude barriers hindering the transition to Circular Economy. The aim is to enforce and widen the existing networks to create business-to-business co-operation, together with support from the public sector, and to support new openings in the sector.
