The Challenge
Comprehensive movement assessment plays an important role in rehabilitation, mobility monitoring, and performance optimization. However, objective gait analysis typically requires specialized laboratory equipment, trained personnel, and dedicated facilities. In everyday clinical practice, movement assessment often relies on visual observation and subjective interpretation, limiting access to detailed movement information.
The Solution
SISGA is a portable gait analysis solution that uses just two lightweight ankle sensors to assess movement in real-world settings. It identifies gait asymmetries and deviations, provides real-time feedback during training, and tracks recovery and movement quality over time through.
The Goal
The project aims to make advanced movement assessment more accessible by bringing laboratory-grade gait analysis into real-world environments. SISGA seeks to support healthcare professionals, athletes, and active individuals with movement insights that can improve rehabilitation, training, mobility assessment, and long-term musculoskeletal health.
Funding
SISGA is a Business Finland-funded Research to Business (R2B) project at Tampere University. The project focuses on validating customer needs, commercialization opportunities, and the practical applications of wearable movement analysis technologies.
