EduMAP project partner Prof. George K. Zarifis from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (School of Philosophy and Education), was invited in the 5th Biennial Conference of the ESREA Research Network on Adult Educators, Trainers and their Professional Development (collaboratively organized by ESREA-ReNAdET/EPALE/Tallinn University) to present in a workshop that was specially structured as part of the Conference agenda, the scope and progress of the EduMAP project.
The Conference was held in the University of Tallinn (18-20 October 2017 and focused on adult educators and social changes, tracing among others issues relevant to the impact of adult educators in promoting active citizenship and democratic society, and social inclusion of NEETs through adult education.
The ad-hoc workshop was organized by Prof. Triin Roosalu from the University of Tallinn on October 19th. Representatives from the EduMAP, ENLIVEN and EXCEPT projects discussed the challenges facing in researching the role of education for vulnerable young adults across Europe.
George presented the main scope and objectives of the EduMAP project highlighting some of the challenges faced during research. The presentation by the EXCEPT project representatives Eve-Liis Roosmaa and Epp Reiska (University of Tallinn) was an overview of the project which looks at young adults at risk of social exclusion. Triin Roosalu (University of Tallinn, School of Governance, Law and Society) explored in her presentation how policy interventions in adult education markets can become more effective for vulnerable young adults.
Workshop participants further discussed issues relevant to integrating state-of-the-art methodologies and theorisations, implementation and evaluation of an innovative Intelligent Decision Support System to provide a new and more scientific underpinning for policy debate and decision-making on adult learning, especially for young adults, and developing effective and innovative policy initiatives to help young people in Europe overcome labour market insecurities and related risks.
