Regional housing development - Arvo is an ongoing Tampere University project that will run during 2022–2024. The primary goal of this project is to acquire knowledge about regional housing development.

Background of Arvo

Arvo is driven by megatrends such as population growth, globalization, and digitalization, which significantly influence and challenge housing practices. The rise of remote work, particularly post-Covid-19, has necessitated adjustments to the everyday experience of working from home.

Climate change further accentuates the need for reform, emphasizing energy efficiency, carbon-neutral energy solutions, and a dense urban structure. Ongoing urbanization and the prevalence of smaller households signal changing trends in housing. The Arvo project strategically addresses these challenges from a business standpoint, aiming to develop innovative models for residential area development.

Mission

The Arvo project serves the practical purpose of developing real estate practices for residential area development. We also seek to foster collaboration between communities and businesses to create better and more sustainable living environments for residents.

The project’s goals include enhancing the understanding of regional housing development management, exploring the possibilities of scaling up housing development at the regional level, and addressing the institutional challenges within the business environment.

Impact

The project will generate and collect knowledge about regional housing development to enable effective development. This knowledge includes, for example, housing preferences and how they have changed in recent years. With various stakeholders contributing their unique perspectives, the project’s results gain significance in terms of impact and practical application.

The development of new models will keep housing policy on track, aware of current and future trends, and responsive to the wishes and hopes of residents.
