My name is Salar Shakibhamedan, a researcher working as the ESR 13 in the APROPOS project since July 2021. I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering focusing on digital signal processing and machine learning from K. N. Toosi University of Technology in 2015 and 2018, respectively. In the course of my research and studies, I conducted research and explored the multimodal signal processing and machine learning fields. After graduation in 2018, I worked as a machine learning engineer on various extensive and practical machine learning and deep learning projects and services.
I’m delighted to join the APROPOS project to work on the fields that are trends and hot topics. Due to my background in electrical engineering, IoT, smart sensors, and embedded systems are my other interests. APROPOS provides an excellent opportunity to combine these two tendencies when edge machine learning is gaining attention significantly. I have been enjoying being in touch with the trends and state-of-arts. Moreover, one of the main targets of APROPOS is to make changes in people’s lives and solve one of the leading global problems, which is energy consumption. These approaches align with my point of view and make me more eager to be a part of APROPOS.
As the ESR 13 (which seems very lucky), we aim to have smart sensors (a kind of embedded system) which are smart by conducting machine learning-based analyses, algorithms, and decision making while having awareness in our system. My secondment in the APROPOS project is TTTech. TTTech is a well-known company in autonomous driving which provides fantastic opportunities for us to implement our ideas and researches achievements.
In summary, I’m a Ph.D. researcher at the Vienna University of technology as a part of the APROPOS project. My research interests are machine learning, deep learning, signal processing, and embedded systems. And I hope to have an incredible journey as a Ph.D. researcher in the APROPOS project during this program.
