Public transportation

Turin has a wide range of public transportation options and coverage. The options are tram, bus, and metro.

To use all kinds of public transport easily, you can buy tickets at the “Tabacchi” stores, metro vending machines, or online using the “TO move” app.

A “GTT ticket” can be used for all public transportation. Here is a list of available tickets and prices:
https://www.gtt.to.it/cms/en/fares

The city is not divided into zones for public transportation. So, you only need the tickets labeled as “urban + suburban.”

We recommend a “Daily” ticket if you are staying less than a week and going to take the tram, bus, or metro several times a day. If you plan to stay for a week or so, you can buy a “Multi Daily 7” ticket from the app.

Please keep in mind that some types of tickets are only available on the app and are not purchasable at “Tabacchi” or metro vending machines and vice versa. However, if a kind of ticket is available online and at stores, the app prices are cheaper.

Tram and Bus

Every tram and bus has ticket scanners. You should validate your ticket once you are on board; there is no need to scan the ticket again when getting off.
Please keep in mind that tickets are not sold on board, and to the best of my knowledge, bank card payments are not accepted on board.

Metro

Metro stations have ticket gates. Scan your ticket once to get in and scan it again to get out.

Bikes and Scooters

You can rent bikes using bike-sharing apps like RideMovi and Lime.

There are a lot of options for renting a Scooter. You can use apps like Lime, Bird, Bolt, Dott, Tier, Helbiz, and Voi.

Taxi

You can book taxis using apps like WeTaxi and FreeNow.

Spending and currency

The currency is the euro. Though cash is preferred in some stores, it is not a necessity. Most purchases can be made digitally using a debit/credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.

Medical Attention

In case of emergency, call 118. Keeping an EU health card or health insurance card/certificate is recommended.

Supermarkets

Search for: Carrefour, Borello, Ins, Aldi, Lidl, Conad.
General closing time is 7 pm – 9 pm.
Open after 9 pm or even at weekends: some Carrefour supermarkets.

Regional Specialty

Though Italian cuisine is famous for pizza and pasta, a world is left to discover. If you have a sweet tooth,
do not forget to try the Gianduiotto! It is a specialty of Turin and takes its name from Gianduja, the
preparation of chocolate and hazelnut used for Gianduiotti and other sweets (including Nutella and
Bicerin di Gianduiotto).
