Latest article of the WorkAI project “AI transformation in working Life: A systematic review of usage and attitudes towards AI among workers,” is now available open access in the Digital Business journal.
In this systematic review, we analyze 24 empirical studies to understand the real-world impacts of AI on day-to-day work as experienced by employees. This synthesis of the literature from the past five years (2020–2024) identifies both opportunities (e.g., greater efficiency, new roles, added skills, enhanced creativity) and challenges (e.g., fairness, job security, well-being).
As AI-driven disruption in workplaces continues to evolve, employees are at the forefront, yet they are not always aware of when and where AI is being used or how it functions. The evidence suggests that successful AI adoption requires transparent communication, employee involvement rather than top-down implementation, ethical guidelines, and ongoing training to ensure that AI enhances, rather than undermines, human work.
