Second workshop meeting - Kolding, Denmark 20th-22nd of October 2022

The second workshop meeting took place in Kolding, Denmark. This workshop aimed at imagining new social and linguistic support systems for second language speakers in the Nordic countries.

The workshop consisted of data session, reading circles and discussion on prereads. Based on the work done in this and the first workshop and each participant’s expertise and experience in second language learning and teaching, we discussed the challenges of L2 learners in the Nordic countries and what could be changed to improve language learning and integration. Later, these discussions found their form in a policy brief paper published in Fast track to vision 2030.

In the paper, we propose that Nordic countries should develop a Nordic model for adult immigrants’ linguistic support based on ideas of language companionship and language mentoring on the job.
