The very first workshop of our network Exploring New Materialism for second language learning took place in Orivesi, Tampere area, Finland. Participants were eager to get the work started and learn more about what New Materialism is and what it could mean for second language learning – as well as get to know each other. This workshop was devoted to discussing and working towards understanding New Materialism and how it could be combined with conversation analysis.
Professor Steven L. Thorne was our invited speaker and guider into New Materialism.
Orivesi provided the perfect get away in the middle of the Finnish countryside to focus on working without distraction.
