Human whole genome sequencing is a possibility to healthcare to make a huge progress in near future. Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) and Tampere University as members of the new higher education community are conducting the collaborative practices to create new environment for open innovation in health and welfare systems. In Profitu profiling TAMK is developing a roadmap and a guide for well-being data usability.

Profitu project objectives are to invest in advanced research resources and facilities, and to create innovative skills and capabilities. These are increasingly crucial for shaping a better future for clients, professionals and researchers of health and welfare services. In the profiling we are especially developing use of genomic data in the healthcare context.

In Profitu we aim to create a roadmap for responsible use of genome and also other patient related data to develop research, expertise and education in close collaboration with several domestic and international collaborators.

New capabilities and opportunities

Genomic data is an example of big data that will significantly change the way healthcare in proceeding in the future. Tampere University of Applied Sciences is involved in creating new capabilities and opportunities to innovate healthcare globally.

The profiling project will run from May 2019 until February 2021. The project is partially funded by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.
