Course idea

The course introduces key approaches to international political economy. It is organized into nine sections. The first section provides a general overview of the field of international (or global) political economy, laying the foundation for the topics that follow. Each subsequent section examines a distinct theoretical or analytical perspective, offering students a comprehensive understanding of the diverse ways in which international political economy can be studied.

Each section (with the exception of the first) follows a consistent structure:

  • An introductory text that outlines the theme and its relevance (READ)
  • Three to five video lectures of varying lengths (WATCH)
  • A quiz to assess comprehension and retention (ASSESS)
  • Reflective assignments that invite students to apply the insights gained to critically analyze contemporary, real-world phenomena (REFLECT)
  • Some examples of exercises designed to deepen student learning by grounding it more firmly in academic knowledge production (e.g. literature review exercise, identifying and summarizing academic articles, a research task). (DEEPEN)
