PeaceEdu Lecture by Frans Kruger (University of Nottingham): “From Multiperspectivity to Public Encounters: Reimagining Critical Peace Education through Dis-enclosure and Conviviality”

Frans Kruger is an Associate Professor in Education at the University of Nottingham and an honorary research fellow in the Office for International Affairs at the University of the Free State, South Africa. He is Steering Committee member for Campus Africa under the UNESCO Chair in International Education and Development that is hosted by the School of Education at the University of Nottingham.

The lecture is part of the consortium meeting of PeaceEdu: Curriculum Reform to Promote Education for Peace in Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova (EU Project 101128854) that takes place at the University of Hildesheim from November 19 to 21, 2025, organized by Prof. Dr. Viola B. Georgi (Institut für Erziehungswissenschaft) and Prof. Dr. Markus Heide (Institut für englische Sprache und Literatur).

The general objective of the PeaceEdu project is to foster sustainable practices of Peace in Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova. We aim at strengthening the capacity and capability of higher educational institutions in the partner countries to invest in the development of multidisciplinary peace education and peace studies. Partner institutions from Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Finland, Austria and Germany collaborate in creating syllabi and cross-regional courses in the field of Peace Education. Our activities aim at strengthening higher education capacities for non-violence and civic competence. Frans Kruger (University of Nottingham), professor of education and a renowned scholar in the field, will address the history and methodology of Peace Education.
