PeaceEdu Partners from RKI Participate at Educa Fair with a Presentation on "Curriculums for Peace"

Our PeaceEdu project has reached the phase of many dissemination events on its’ timeline. 23.1.2026 Peace Education Institute participated in Educa fair, the largest educational event in Finland and the Nordics. In the event  “Curriculums for Peace” were discussed.

In times of polycrisis it is relevant to ask: What does peace mean in education today—and how should peace education manifest in curriculum design? The presentation invited educators and policymakers to reflect on the role of peace education within curriculum development work. Drawing on insights from the PeaceEdu project (PeaceEdu | Tampere Universities), the session explored how peace-oriented goals—such as empathy, dialogue, global responsibility, and social sustainability—can be meaningfully embedded in teacher education and national curricula. These goals not only contribute to the wellbeing of teachers and learners, but also build societal resilience and coherence, not forgetting nurturing a sense belonging, and hope in uncertain times.

The session also asked, how peace education could move from the margins to the mainstream of educational thinking.
