Sari has held a variety of different “hats” during her academic career. After graduating with a PhD in molecular medicine, she worked in technical and teaching roles in cellular and molecular biology in New Zealand, and for almost three years building a national neuroscience network in Finland.
As a commercialization specialist, Sari’s role spans from market research to discussions with potential customers and investors – anything and everything involved in preparation the innovation for commercialization.
As a generalist in nature, Sari finds her current role very exciting. As well as being enthusiastic about learning more of the commercialization journey of an academic innovation, she is also thrilled to learn more about sustainable biomaterials and photonics.
In her free time Sari likes to travel, but laughs that the mode of travel has changed to more “middle-aged” since the family returned from New Zealand to Finland: from motorcycles + tent to a campervan.
Sari says she’s happy to connect with anyone either interested in the project, as well as other expats returning to Finland!
