The 22nd Annual School of Nursing and Midwifery Research Conference took place on the 31st March 2023 in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University College Cork. The conference highlighted the importance of sustainable approaches to health and healthcare. A wide range of presentations provided a great insight from a multitude of perspectives into the challenges and opportunities that exist relating to sustainability in the context of healthcare. Keynote speaker Rachel Kenna, Chief Nurse from the Department of Health spoke to policy directions and insights to future developments in Nursing and Midwifery.

Professor Josephine Hegarty and Dr Maria Caples presented on their synthesis of genomic competencies for healthcare professionals using a systematic review and meta-summary methodology.

Josephine and Maria also discussed the sustainability of the GenoNurse project and how the project aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals. The vision of the sustainability of GenoNurse through the development of a GenoNurse Community was also presented.
Following their presentation they joined a panel discussion for a question-and-answer session. The project was well received with positive feedback and curiosity for the future.
