Research group
Research topics of the Nanophotonics group are focused around nanostructured materials to manipulate and control light in the sub-wavelength regime. Nanophotonic materials can be used for high-resolution molecular sensing, light absorption enhancement and photon management in photovoltaic cells or as anti-reflective coatings. More recently the activities are directed towards photonic integrated circuits , assembly of integrated circuits and fibers and optical design methods.
Research infrastructure
The group has access to two cleanrooms (ISO 5 and ISO 7). The laboratories include instruments for thin-film deposition, dry etching, wet processing, annealing and electron microscopy. Photolithography (SuSS MA6), UV-nanoimprinting (EVG 620) and electron-beam lithography (Elionix) are possible. Everything from the simulation of photonics nanostructures to wafer patterning and characterization can be done in house.
