Revolution in data-based fibre material science

How to speed up R&D processes and result in innovative structures with lower weight and improved safety?

Next generation fibre-reinforced composite development

The objective of the research opening is to develop methods which enable i) the acceleration of research and development and ii) the reduction of raw materials in fibre-reinforced and fibre-based materials. These two goals can be achieved by understanding and providing better material interfaces, understanding the variety of the material properties and providing better structural designs. We will enable all this using a data-based approach where we combine in an internationally unique way novel microrobotic material testing, fundamental knowledge in materials science, and numerical material models.
