About

The main objective of the investment project is to implement and develop a networked RDI and demonstration testbed for Pirkanmaa region. It will bring together the competence center for electric intelligent mobile work machines and commercial vehicles. The operation period is 1 Aug 2021 − 30 June 2023.

Background

The main objective of the investment project is to implement and develop a networked RDI and demonstration Testbed for Pirkanmaa, which brings together the competence center for electric intelligent mobile work machines and commercial vehicles.

Pirkanmaa region has a significant number of companies operating in the intelligent work equipment sector, which are responsible for their own business development, as well as universities and research in the field. RDI activities and environments are currently fragmented, silenced and partially deficient, and beyond the reach of SMEs. The digitalisation and electrification of the sector, as well as the low carbon and energy efficiency of products and production, are key to market success, the rapid introduction and application of technologies.

Objectives

The concrete sub-objectives of the project are:

Objective 1. RDI and demonstration of electric intelligent mobile work machines and commercial vehicles, and implementation of the testbed.

Objective 2. An environment that enables comprehensive demonstrations of RDI and demonstration of electric intelligent mobile work machines and commercial vehicles in a Testbed type.

Measures

The project is divided into three measures:

Measure 1. Tampere University of Applied Sciences’ (TAMK) investments.
Measure 2. Creation of the digital preconditions for the RDI and demonstration testbed (Tampere University investments).
Measure 3. Integration of TAMK and Tampere University investments.

The equipment of the project will implement the objectives of the “eSmart Machines – RDI and Demonstration Testbed for Electric Intelligent Mobile Work Machines and Commercial Vehicles” development project, and it is also a precondition for the realization of this investment project.

The results of the project are documented. For example, descriptions of demonstrations and Testbed environments are documented in writing and distributed on the project website. The aim is also to publish the reports in national series and internationally.

Funding

The project is funded by Council of Tampere Region from EU’s European Regional Development Fund, Sustainable Growth and Employment 2014-2020 program.
