In English: Encountering gender-based violence in schools
This online training is designed for the teaching, education, social welfare and health care sectors. It is suitable for both students and those who work with young people. Specific target groups of the training are teachers and other professionals who work in secondary schools and the upper secondary level. The purpose of the training is to raise awareness of gender-based violence faced by young people as a phenomenon and provide tools for identifying, preventing and addressing violence.
The training consists of seven sections that deal with gender-based violence from the perspectives of the victim, the person committing the violent act and the person witnessing the act.

You can study the training on your own or as a group. It takes about 12 hours (16 academic lectures of 45 minutes each) to complete it, but you can take the exam in three parts and get a digital certificate in the end. The training is free of charge and easily accessible through a simple registration procedure on the online training site of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare:
1. To sign up for the first time go to the address https://verkkokoulut.thl.fi/, choose English language, and create an account.
2. When you are logged in, search for the training by name (Encountering gender-based violence in schools) or write the short link https://verkkokoulut.thl.fi/course/view.php?id=100 in your browser. Then click “enrol me” to join.
3. You can now take a look at the training and return to it as often as you wish to.
In Finnish: Sukupuolistuneen väkivallan kohtaaminen kouluissa
Tervetuloa opiskelemaan suomenkielistä verkkokoulua! Koulutus on avoimesti saatavilla Terveyden ja hyvinvoinin laitoksen sivuilla (verkkokoulut.thl.fi), jossa myös ruotsin- ja englanninkieliset käännökset julkaistaan vuoden 2021 aikana.
Verkkokoulu on suunnattu opetus- ja kasvatus- sekä sosiaali- ja terveysaloille. Se sopii sekä opiskelijoille että nuorten parissa jo työskenteleville. Koulutuksen kohderyhmänä ovat erityisesti yläkouluissa ja toisella asteella työskentelevät opettajat ja muut ammattilaiset. Tavoitteena on lisätä tietoisuutta nuoriin kohdistuvasta sukupuolistuneesta väkivallasta ilmiönä, sekä antaa välineitä väkivallan tunnistamiseen, ennaltaehkäisyyn ja puuttumiseen.

In Swedish: Bemötande av könsbaserat våld i skolor (click here to register for the first time, click here to find the course after registration). Syftet med utbildningen är att öka medvetenheten om könsbaserat våld mot ungdomar som ett fenomen samt att ge verktyg att identifiera, förebygga och ingripa i våld. Den totala tidsåtgången i webbskolan är cirka 12 timmar, men du kan genomaföra den i tre avsnitt. Helheten är särskilt riktad till de (blivande) proffs inom pedagogik, utbildning och socialsektorn som arbetar på högstadier, gymnasier eller yrkesinstitut.
