The DIGISOS project investigates
- The challenges of digital violence, its identification and interventions as well as any opportunities involved, and how these are connected to other forms of intimate partner violence.
- What kind of support the victims of digital violence have.
- Which digital services are available for work against violence, how they meet the clients’ need for support, how to develop basic digital services in social work and health care services and in the specific work against violence for which social work is responsible.
Work packages 1 and 2
The project consists of two complementary work packages (WP). WP 1 is targeted at social work in basic social and health services. It examines identifying different forms of digital violence, interventions against violence and practices for helping those who have experienced violence. The project begins by a web-based survey and focus group interviews with social workers.
WP2 focuses on the special services for working against violence which social work is responsible for. Based on interview data, the work package will analyse the views of employees working on violence issues in outpatient services and shelters, as well as the views of persons with first-hand experience of digital violence, especially as regards the prerequisites and obstacles to constructing safety. The gaps in the service system and opportunities for a more efficient coordination of services will also be examined. This will provide new information on specific support needs and the challenges they may pose to professional competence in social work.
The project actively participates in international research collaborations. The project’s international and multidisciplinary research approach enables combining the knowledge and expertise of different disciplines as well as producing novel theoretical, conceptual, and methodological openings.
