Niina Uusitalo & Taru Lehtokunnas published an article in Finnish journal Media & viestintä on waste in wildlife photography. The authors examine the agencies that emerge in the relationships between animals, humans, and waste in wildlife photography. The analysis draws from the idea of the performativity of waste developed in the field of social scientific waste studies. In wildlife photography, nature is often portrayed as an aesthetic space separate from human culture. The article expands the understanding of the ethical relationships embedded within the practices of wildlife photography.
