My name is Saba Yousefzadeh. I have been working on the APROPOS project as a Doctoral Researcher since October 2021. I’m from Tehran, Iran. I received my B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Iran University of Science and Technology in 2017 and my M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (Digital Systems) from the University of Tehran in February 2021.
During my master’s, I worked on designing reconfigurable accelerators for biomedical applications. Nowadays, applications such as neural networks are compute-intensive, so many architectures have been designed to implement such applications efficiently. Most of the architectures are accelerator-rich architectures. My proposed design (iMPAC: MicroProgramed Configurable Accelerator) can be configured for FFT, Matrix Multiplication, FIR, and Taylor series that are mainly used for feature extraction and classification in biomedical applications by using the advantage of microprogramming. Three conference papers were extracted from my thesis. My research interests include energy-efficient computing, neuromorphic computing, machine learning, and high-level synthesis.
I will work as ESR5 on “Industrial and Scientific Applications for benchmarking approximate computing strategies” under the supervision of professor Ahmed Hemani at KTH university. Scientific and industrial benchmarks include: BCPNN (Bayesian Confidence Propagation Neural Network), SOM (Self Organizing Map), 3D FFT for Molecular Dynamics, and Augmented Reality collaborating with Ericsson. There should be a strong background and in-depth vision of algorithms and mathematics for developing benchmarks. So, this project has new challenges for me as an Electrical Engineer.
I’m so delighted to be a member of the APROPOS project. I am pursuing my interests as a Ph.D. student in academia and having a chance to work with industrial companies such as Ericsson. One of the significant properties of the APROPOS project is collaborating with other ESRs and Professors that I enjoy following their field of research and visiting different countries.
