ESR Presentation: Georgios Chatzitsompanis (ESR 15)

My name is Georgios Chatzitsompanis, I am 25 years old, and I am from Greece. I received my Meng, 5-year diploma BSc-MSc equivalent at Electrical Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2020. I am currently pursuing my PhD degree in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Queen’s University of Belfast.

The title of my PhD is “Dynamic Data-Dependent Precision Scaling for Energy-Scalable Neural-Network and Security Applications”. We plan to develop a scheme that enables dynamic data-dependent precision scaling and utilize it on the design of an energy efficient neural network accelerator that provides just the right amount of energy and quality depending on requirements. Since there is an increased use of AI application in edge devices, there is a necessity to enable their operation and strict power constraints and limitations. After the CNN accelerator is fully designed, we plan to investigate security issued and potential solutions on the developed approximate designs
