After 4.5 exciting years, the APROPOS project has officially reached its conclusion. Today, the final deliverables were submitted to the European Commission, marking the successful end of a long and rewarding chapter.
APROPOS set out with an ambitious vision: to train a new generation of researchers in the domain of Approximate Computing (AxC) and push the boundaries of research in this evolving field. Looking back, it’s incredibly satisfying to see that vision fulfilled. Students who joined the project years ago are now defending their theses and moving on to new academic and professional challenges. Research goals were met, and sometimes exceeded, and along the way, we experienced many memorable moments together.
Beyond the technical achievements, one of APROPOS’s greatest successes has been the community it built. The mentorship, guidance, and steady support provided by supervisors across the project played a vital role in shaping not just research outputs, but the careers of future experts in the field. While appreciation often deepens with time, there is no doubt that the impact of this mentorship will be felt for years to come.
Although this marks the official end of the project, it is far from the end of the relationships formed. Research is a small world, and connections built through APROPOS are likely to spark new collaborations and ideas well into the future.
As the project closes, we’re left with a deep sense of gratitude — for the work accomplished, the people who made it possible, and the future that now lies ahead.
Thank you for following the APROPOS journey. We look forward to seeing where it leads next.
