Using Plane
- VIA AMSTERDAM (SCHIPHOL AIRPORT)
Amsterdam Schiphol airport serves all major airlines. From Schipol airport a direct intercity train can be taken to Delft or a connecting train with a stop at Leiden Central. This train connection from Schiphol airport to Delft is a 40-50 minute ride. Trains depart from Schiphol roughly every 15 minutes.
- VIA ROTTERDAM THE HAGUE AIRPORT
The nearest airport to Delft is “Rotterdam The Hague Airport”. It provides to and fro direct flights to several destinations in Europe. Also recommended for shorter check-ins. From the airport Delft can be reached in 35-50 minute via train-bus connection or with a 15-minute taxi ride to Delft.
Using Train
Delft can be also reached from Italy, Germany, Austria, or France with high-speed train with connections in Netherlands at Amsterdam, Rotterdam, or Utrecht.

Public transportation
To use all kinds of public transport easily, one can buy “OV-chipkaart” at the railway stations counters. This “OV-chipkaart” has to be credited first and then can be used with simple check in/check out at the train/bus/trams stops.

Delft Shuttle Service
Delft has a shuttle service every day from 10:30 to 17:00. There are several stops around the city, also near to the summer school venue. The day ticket costs 4€.
Public transport to Venue
Once in Delft, at Delft Central Station several buses depart for University campus roughly every 10 minutes. You can get off at the bus stop “Berlageweg” stop, very near to building number 37 “X”. Bus lines that reach the “Berlageweg” stop are:

- 69 direction TU Technopolis via TU
- 174 direction Rotterdam Noord
Spending/Cards
Almost all purchase can be made digitally using debit/credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Most shops accepts Maestro, VISA, Mastercard.
Regional Specialty
Well-known dishes are:
Hachée: Meat, fish or poultry and vegetables, stewed into a thick gravy with vinegar, cloves and laurel leaves.
Hutspot: Potato, carrot, onion mash, often eaten in winter, usually with meat on side.
Stamppot: Potato mash and leftovers or other ingredients like kale, endive, cabbage or sauerkraut. Often served with meat on the side (smoked sausage) and gravy.
Brown bean soup: Typical winter soup, slowly prepared over many hours, with brown beans, vegetables and meats and spices like cloves, juniper berries and thyme.
