One of our new Doctoral Researchers is Ilmari Lähde, M.Sc. in Structural Engineering and M.Sc. in Data Science, who studies design principles for AI agent-based systems at Tampere University’s Faculty of Built Environment.
“I got interested in the doctoral research opportunity when I saw Piia Sormunen and Osku Torro’s presentation of the AI Champion project at the AI in AEC conference. I have previously developed data-driven solutions for energy infrastructure design, and this research topic felt like a natural continuation,” Ilmari says.
“My research focuses on the guiding principles for designing AI agent-based systems for different use cases in the MEP construction supply chain. This is part of a larger project developing AI agents to support data flow and enrichment from design to maintenance. The work has started at a fast pace, and I have really enjoyed being part of a team with great people and so much diverse expertise!” Ilmari continues.
We’ll get back to the Research School and its impact on the project and the larger research community after the summer when all the hirings are finished – see you in August when we next gather together for the consortium’s internal AI Champion Show and Tell Days!
In the Business Finland funded AI Champion Co-Innovation project, we aim to find out the design and construction challenges in Building Services and create a 100 AI Agents to solve these challenges and enhance the supply chains. Co-operators and funders in AI Champion are Tampere University, University of Oulu, Granlund, Fira, Koja Chiller, ETS NORD, Kiilto, GF BFS, Nimlas, LVI-INFO, Sähköteknisen Kaupan Liitto ry and Airlyse.
