On 17th December, a series lectures for high school students was held at Gimnazjum Im. Juliusza Slowackiego in Cesky Tesin, Czech Republic, led by our ESR Lucie Klus. The lectures aimed to present the goals and targets of A-WEAR project and to spread awareness across youth regarding the future, advantages and potential hazards of wearables. The students were introduced to the opportunities of wearable technologies in daily life, healthcare and entertainment systems. The privacy and security concerns were highlighted to show that emerging technologies carry risks as well as advantages, stating A-WEAR’s mission to minimize such problems and overcome challenges. The sessions also encouraged students to consider studying abroad, including the short introduction of opportunities at Tampere University and some other European programs, followed by the encouragement to set high goals and persistently pursue them.
