Gender Politics and Everyday Feminisms on TikTok
The case study investigates cultural and political discussions and debates about gender politics and everyday feminisms on TikTok in the 2020s. Further, the focus is on how everyday feminism becomes narrated and audiovisualized in TikTok’s short video formats.
The methods used in the case study include digital ethnographic observation, multimodal analysis of TikTok videos, and qualitative interviews. The interview participants include politicians, other TikTok content creators, and young TikTok consumers.

Young migrants on TikTok: narratives about Finland and Finnishness
This case study examines how TikTok mediates young people’s belonging to Finland. Drawing on the experiences and narratives of young migrants, who have moved to Finland from different countries, the research investigates how these experiences and narratives are structured by TikTok affordances, perceived expectations and norms of Finnish society and young people’s previous countries of residence.
The case study uses digital ethnographic observation, multimodal analysis of TikTok videos, and qualitative interviews. The interviews are conducted with content creators and TikTok users, who have moved to Finland from different countries.
