The Medical Technology School of Universidad de El Salvador (UES) presented the SmartNurse project in March 22 to the Academic Vice-Rector, PhD. Raúl Azcúnaga, and the dean of the Faculty of Medicine (FM), Msc. Josefina Sibrián. The project will be carried out with the technical support of the University of Applied Sciences of Tampere, Finland under the leadership of Annukka Huuskonen, General Coordinator of the SmartNurse Project.
On June 27, 2021, Ismael López, professor in nursing, said that this Project has been presented to the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Medicine and to the university community, through the Meet platform in a scientific conference. In the meet were explain the objectives of the project, the results and scope.
SmartNurse Project has the support of the “Erasmus +” program of the European Union, in which the teachers and students developed their skills in digital nursing through Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
The Project look for the integration of the SmartNurse Methodology to study program of nursing degree, in order to applied systematically with the purpose of improving education and modernizing the nursing program, through the incorporation of software and technological equipment that enriches the training of students.
Modernization includes teacher training through courses on technological tools in health promotion, disease prevention and treatment of chronic diseases using current knowledge and modern digital innovations with the purpose of training general competencies in care management on the first level of care and the quality of nursing care to the people, families and communities.
