The first issue of the Journal of Disappearance Studies is out!

The Re(E)MBody team is immensely proud to announce the publication of the first issue of the Journal of Disappearance Studies, published by Bristol University Press.

The first issue of Journal of Disappearance Studies is out now, and is currently free to access:

The first issue encapsulates the multi- and transdisciplinary approach of the journal. It includes research on enforced disappearance from human rights law, transitional justice and migration studies, feminism and genetics. Volume 1.1 includes interviews with filmmakers, journalists, activists and practitioners responding to disappearances. The issue also features two powerful poetic contributions that give voice to various dimensions of disappearance in Kurdistan.

The Re(E)MBody team has been deeply involved in the launch of the journal, with Élise Féron acting as co-editor-in-chief, and Anush Petrosyan, Vadim Romashov, Stipe Odak, Roddy Brett, Laura Huttunen and Valérie Rosoux being part of the editorial board.

In this first issue, Élise Féron coauthored the editorial with Bahar Baser, Roddy Brett, and Verónica Hinestroza, and she also contributed an article on Feminist Approaches to Disappearances, and an interview with the amazing filmmaker Anne Poiret, who has notably filmed and produced the documentary Ghosts of Ukraine.

Please check it out and share widely, we are very eager to make a difference in academia, policy and beyond, and to make sure that the issue of disappearances gets the attention it deserves!
