The exhibition “Frontiers and Temporalities of Extractivism” is currently on display in the Main Lobby of Päätalo, City Centre Campus, Tampere University, from 10.02 to 28.02.

This edition of the exhibition is organized with the support of the TAPRI Peace Research Institute and is presented within the course “Nature, Conflicts and Peacebuilding,” part of the PEACE MA programme.

The exhibition portrays stories of mining in Finland, highlighting details about specific sites where mineral exploration and extraction have taken place, or may take place in the future. Through these cases, it opens broader theoretical discussions on extractivism, including toxicity, the acceleration of extraction, the politics of offsetting, and Indigenous resistance. The exhibition consists of drawings, memories, sketches, illustrations, and stories gathered during online data collection and field trips across Finland and Sápmi.
