Tampere University has developed a new method for measuring humidity, the Optosense method. This method is based on an organic thin film that is sensitive to light, humidity and temperature. Optosense material works without electricity and doesn’t require calibration. This makes it possible to measure humidity in a new way and from objects and processes where it has not been possible before.

Benefits of Optosense Technology

The sensor does not require electricity

No calibration required

Lower expenses

Measurements can be performed through glass, inside a transparent enclosed space or through structures

Suitable for mass production and measuring individual packages

The sensor is very small, even less than 1mm

Optosense technology enables chip-level integration for many applications – accuracy and speed remain
