Multi-cohort study links job demands and socio-demographics to mortality and wellbeing

Researchers at Tampere University have discovered that work demands in midlife play a huge role in shaping health and well-being in later life. The findings suggest that people with physically strenuous work are more likely to perceive their own health negatively and that their self-rated health is more likely to deteriorate with age. People with physically demanding jobs in their midlife are also more likely to die earlier than people with physically lighter jobs.
