Mobility

The project will recruit 15 teachers from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and 15 teachers from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) to visit Tallinn University (TU) Estonia or Tampere University (TAU) Finland. The mobility process is hoped to culminate in various research quality outputs.

  • Ghanaian champions will job shadow their Finnish / Estonian colleagues for the weeks that they are visit.
  • You will be required to record your daily experiences and reflections in an e-diary.
  • Upon your return to Ghana you will be required to disseminate the knowledge gained during the mobility to their colleagues.
  • Further requirements will be specified in the enrollment questionnaire
  • The mobility dates are as follows (when applying, please indicate your preferred phase):
    • Phase 1: 31 of March to 6 of April 2024
    • Phase 2: 2 to 8 of September 2024
    • Phase 3: 27 of October to 2 of November 2024
  • Estonia and Finland will receive three allotments of five champions each.
  • Champions are expected to arrive on Sunday and depart on Saturday.

Registration will be available in mid-September.

    • Yes, for the passport and yes, for the visa.
  • How soon will I be notified if I am accepted or rejected for the mobility to Estonia or Finland?
    • We will get back to you by the first week of November 2023.
  • Can I appeal the outcomes of the selection?
    • No.
  • Can I take family members or friends with me?
    • No, this is only for you.
  • Do I have to be a staff member of UCC or UEW to apply?
    • Yes.
  • Do I have to pay for the travel myself?
    • No.
  • Who will be paying for it?
    • The GOT project.
  • How long am I going for?
    • You fly out of Ghana on a Saturday and will spend Sunday to Friday in Estonia or Finland. Then you will fly out on Friday evening.
  • Who will be making the accommodation and flight bookings?
    • Tallinn University and Tampere University will book hotel quotas.
    • UCC and UEW PI’s or their teams will be organising the flights from Ghana to Estonia or Finland and return.
  • Can I extend my stay for a holiday?
    • No, because your visa is valid for participation in the mobility initiative. If you would like to organise holiday in Estonia and Finland that must be done completely separately.
  • Are non-lecturing staff able to able?
    • Yes, if they are IT staff or the senior members who teach.
  • Will I receive a certificate if I am selected and participate in the mobility period and tasks?
    • Yes, you will receive it once you have fulfilled all your obligations after the mobility period.
