The project team organised a meeting with the training participants on 9.5.2018 in IUG facilities. The aim of the meeting was to introduce the project and the training programme to the participants who will take part in Training of trainers-phase of the project.
Eighteen IUG academics who were selected to participate in the training joined the meeting together with both IUG and UTA team members. UTA team joined via video-conference.
Vesa Korhonen, the project coordinator, opened the meeting emphasising the importance of the training phase in achieving the project goals. After a round of introductions, Nazmi Al-Masri, the project director at IUG, presented the project goals and the progress of the project implementation. The central topic of the meeting was the training programme. Jyri Linden, university pedagogy expert, introduced the goals of the training and the programme schedule. He also addressed the themes that will be covered during the training and the teaching and learning methods that will be applied. The meeting ended with an open Q&A session during which the participants got further details about the training.
The training will begin on 7.8.2018 with a 2-hour opening webinar. Teaching and learning will be organised through online webinars combined with individual and group assignments for the participants. An intensive face-to-face training at University of Tampere is preliminarily planned for mid-September 2018. The closing webinars will be organised in mid-January 2019.
