Prof. Johanna Kantola moves to the University of Helsinki

The Principal Investigator of EUGenDem, Prof. Johanna Kantola has been appointed Professor of European Societies and their Politics at the University of Helsinki.

Prof. Kantola has taken up her post as Professor of European Societies and their Politics at the Center for European Studies of the University of Helsinki in November 2022. She will be continuing her research on European integration; European Union and its actors, institutions and governance; European Parliament and its political groups; gender and politics; gender equality policies; democracy, equality, anti-gender politics and feminist responses there. She will be teaching in the MA programme European and Nordic Studies (ENS) and will be in charge of the EU module of the programme. More information about her work at CES can be found here.

The EUGenDem project will be moving its host institution and research activities to the Center from January 2023 onwards when Dr Barbara Gaweda starts in the University of Helsinki as a Senior Researcher, Dr Valentine Berthet as a Postdoctoral researcher and Liliia Antoniuk as PhD researcher.

We are organising a final event in the European Parliament 7 February 2023 to present the key findings of the project to the parliamentarians, staff and practitioners. Our final conference “European Politics, Equality and Democracy” will take place at the University of Helsinki 25-26 May 2023 with top speakers and an open call for papers.
